Junk Market Moma

March29

I had a very magical day going to a local swap meet.  You know how sometimes you look at something and it sparks a memory?.  I have a fond memory of my Grandmother Ramirez’s kitchen.  I remember peeking under the kitchen towel to reveal neat little bundles of fresh tortilla dough rising.  I would watch her in awe as she rolled out and spun those fresh tortillas in the air like a pizza man.  All I needed was butter. YUM!  I also recall a large grouping of trivets, many with some very funny sayings on them, hung on her kitchen wall.  That’s what I bought today, trivets.  My cousin Lori still has grandma’s trivets hanging on her kitchen wall and I have added to her collection when I have found them in the past.  Today I decided to start my own collection.  Here are a few I picked up…

I wonder what these symbols mean????

One thing about buying old stuff, is you wonder about it’s history.  Where was it made? Who’s home did it hang in?  How many people have owned it?  I’d rather have an old, rare, treasure than something everyone else can buy plus I’m recycling!  Oh and then there is the saving money factor.

Hum..I feel a scrapbook page coming on…
