Junk Market Moma

March29

I had a very magical day going to a local swap meet.  You know how sometimes you look at something and it sparks a memory?.  I have a fond memory of my Grandmother Ramirez’s kitchen.  I remember peeking under the kitchen towel to reveal neat little bundles of fresh tortilla dough rising.  I would watch her in awe as she rolled out and spun those fresh tortillas in the air like a pizza man.  All I needed was butter. YUM!  I also recall a large grouping of trivets, many with some very funny sayings on them, hung on her kitchen wall.  That’s what I bought today, trivets.  My cousin Lori still has grandma’s trivets hanging on her kitchen wall and I have added to her collection when I have found them in the past.  Today I decided to start my own collection.  Here are a few I picked up…

I wonder what these symbols mean????

One thing about buying old stuff, is you wonder about it’s history.  Where was it made? Who’s home did it hang in?  How many people have owned it?  I’d rather have an old, rare, treasure than something everyone else can buy plus I’m recycling!  Oh and then there is the saving money factor.

Hum..I feel a scrapbook page coming on…

I just received this award from a kindred spirit, Vicki! Thanks!!! You too are an inspiration to me!

So I’m supposed to list 7 things I love…

So…besides my family and friends…. I LOVE

1. Chocolate Chip Cookies
(Some homemade ones are hiding in my freezer right now)
Hey Ruby! That’s Mine!!!

2. My Guitar(s) Taylor Made

3. Rocks and things in nature shaped like a heart, in its natural state

Can you see the big ol’ heart? This one would have required a crane to move it!

4. To create-I love making something out of nothing (including dinner)

5. To bargain shop/treasure seek

6. To surprise someone with a random act of kindness

7. Candles burning, music playing, a cup of tea, a scrapbooking magazine and a hot bubble bath; all at once

Now I’m suposed to list 7 people that inspire me to create (besides "The Wiz")

Jeanette Lynton

Ali Edwards

Katie Watson

Lisa Pace

Lisa Stenz

Baby Shower Inspiration

March24

Here is some inspiration for you…a little eye candy.

Here are some pics from my daughters baby shower last weekend…

My oldest daughter, Auntie heather, made all this beautiful food!

My Mom, Nana, made the bread pudding! & Heather’s famous carrot cake cupcakes!

I made the Lemon baby cake!

Isn’t that quilt beautiful? Our good friend Christi (who made this quilt) watched my other children while I was at the hospital having Danielle who is now having her first baby girl!

Happy St. Paddys Day!

March17

Wow. I just celebrated my good friend "Crash’s" Birthday in Ocean Beach at Gallagers-Where we enjoyed the fine faire of the Raggle Taggle Celtic Band.  What a treat! We stayed until it was officially St. Patrick’s Day! So don’t forget to enjoy the day with some leprechan tricks!  Green food coloring in milk, pasta, sauces, cookies and the likes! My kids used to love this foolery.  You can create 4 leaf clovers using a heart stamped in green ink, repeat in a circle to make a 4 leaf clover! Oh! And you can color flowers with Green food coloring too! Just put some in the water and let white flowers suck up the color!

AND here is a link for a FREE St, Patrick’s Day font!

And some Irish Proverbs here!

Enjoy your Day!
